20 Tasty Mexican Appetizers

These delicious Mexican appetizers are perfect for any gathering! From street corn dip to queso fundido, these zesty recipes range from traditional favorites to fusion-style finger foods.

Mexican appetizers

The bold, zesty flavors of Mexican cuisine are renowned around the world, and they’re especially perfect for parties. I’ve found that Mexican-style recipes are some of the most well-loved when I’m entertaining!

Here’s a list of my favorite Mexican appetizers to serve at parties, including traditional recipes, Tex Mex favorites, and fusion-style spins. There are a few recipes from this website, and selections from two of my favorite Mexican-American recipe writers, Isabel Orozco-Moore of Isabel Eats and Alejandra Graf of Brown Sugar and Vanilla.

My Top Mexican Appetizers To Serve

Building a Mexican Appetizer Spread

For parties, I like to focus on contrasts: try serving one warm dip (like queso or bean dip), one fresh salsa or guacamole, one substantial finger food (like flautas or nachos), and plenty of chips.

If you’re planning ahead, many of these recipes work well for meal prep. Corn dip and bean dip can be made up to three days ahead and simply reheated before serving.

Ideas Beyond Tortilla Chips

While homemade tortilla chips are classic, it’s fun to try other creative ideas, too. You can also use plantain chips, which are one of my favorite ways to mix things up!

Try spooning corn dip into small cups with spoons, or serving bean dip with with bell pepper strips instead of chips.

St Germain Spritz

The St Germain Spritz is a delightful blend of elderflower liqueur, sparkling wine, and club soda. It’s perfect for sipping on patios, enjoying at brunch, or anytime you crave a lightly sweet and bubbly cocktail! Why you’ll love this cocktail The first time I tried St Germain liqueur years ago is still a strong memory—the delicate, floral sweetness immediately captivated me! After testing countless St Germain cocktail recipes , the St Germain Spritz has become my absolute favorite way to showcase this elderflower liqueur. What makes this cocktail so special? Well, it’s so refreshing without being too sweet, sophisticated without being pretentious, and—maybe best of all—it takes minutes to prepare. I love other spritzes (like the popular Aperol Spritz), but I would pick this version every time! The light, effervescent quality makes it perfect as a brunch drink , but it’s equally great to make for a summer barbecue. The essential spritz ingredients The St Germain sp...
