How to Make Naan Pizza

Here’s the thing. It’s not just as easy as putting toppings on naan bread! Here are our tips on how to make naan pizza:

  • Grab your favorite naan (or leftover homemade naan). It’s that Indian flatbread that comes neatly packaged in the bread or international foods aisle. Try out brands to find your favorite flavor and texture; they all vary. Or, use leftovers of our garlic naan or vegan naan.
  • Here’s the important part: prebake the naan on the oven grates! You must prebake the naan so the texture holds up like pizza crust. If you skip this step, your crust will be much too wimpy. Bake 3 minutes right on the oven grates at 450 degrees Fahrenheit, then flip and bake 2 minutes more.
  • Top with toppings and bake ~3 minutes. Then add the toppings and bake until the cheese melts. Speaking of topping…let’s chat.

Delicious Topping Ideas

This is where you can get creative! In our base recipe below, we’ve essentially made our Classic Margherita Pizza. Tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and basil: the three colors of the Italian flag. Speaking of Italy: you may know that Alex and I are a little obsessive about our Italian-style artisan pizza. So it might surprise you that we’re making this cheater’s recipe for naan pizza too.

But don’t worry: sometimes we just don’t have time to make our famous pizza dough recipe. And naan pizza is perfect in a pinch. Because we’re pizza obsessed, we have LOTS of creative topping ideas for naan pizza. If you have time to be creative, here are lots of ideas:

  1. Homemade pizza sauce, mozzarella, and basil
  2. Pesto & tomatoes
  3. Spinach artichoke
  4. Sauteed mushrooms & herbs (or roasted mushrooms)
  5. Taco pizza
  6. Veggie supreme (mushrooms, olives & peppers)
  7. Peppers & arugula
  8. Avocado & goat cheese
  9. Pesto & basil
  10. Sundried tomatoes, olives & feta
  11. Scrambled eggs & bell peppers
  12. Vegan pizza
  13. Truffle oil
  14. Refried beans, corn & cilantro
  15. Fresh tomatoes & goat cheese

Storage and Reheating Tips

Leftover naan pizza reheats well. Store cooled pizza in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

For reheating, warm it back a 400°F oven for 5-7 minutes, or use a skillet over medium heat with a lid for 3-4 minutes. You can also easily reheat leftovers in an air fryer!
