Smash Burgers

Smash burgers are a deliciously simple yet flavor-packed type of burger. Made by pressing ground beef balls flat on a hot griddle or skillet, they develop a crispy, caramelized crust thanks to the Maillard reaction. This technique creates a juicy interior and a savory exterior. Seasoned with just salt and pepper, smash burgers are typically served on soft buns with classic toppings like cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and special sauce. 🍔

Ingredients:

  • 250g of ground beef
  • 2 burger buns
  • 50g of cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • griddle
  • spatula
  • bowl
  • knife

Instructions:

  • Preheat the griddle over medium-high heat.
  • While the griddle is heating, form the ground beef into two loose balls, do not compact them too much.
  • Place the beef balls on the hot griddle and smash them down with a spatula to create a thin patty.
  • Season with salt and pepper and cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
  • Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty.
  • Cook for an additional 2 minutes until cheese is melted.
  • Meanwhile, toast the burger buns on the griddle until golden.
  • Assemble the burgers by spreading mustard and mayonnaise on the buns, adding the smashed patties, and topping with sliced onions.
  • Close the burgers and serve hot.
